*Opinion - On the NCAA/Power 5 agreement on athletes compensation -
First - There may be an agreement, but does that guarantee the rest of the NCAA schools (not “power 5”, DII, DIII) will agree?
Second - If approved and implemented I personnally don't see how the NCAA & schools can maintain that the athletes are not employees.
Third - If the United States Congress gets involved in this they are “over-reaching”, not to mention wasting their time and our money.
Fourth - If approved and implemented I'd expect some current NCAA schools to consider leaving the NCAA )perhaps to the NAIA?);
Fifth - If implemented college sports (outside of the “power 5”) will be drastically altered - maybe that is a good thing?
Sixth - There needs to be some real thought on where competive athletics fits in the misson of our higher education institutions.
Reminder - as the MHSAA & OHSAA seasons ramp up my college coverage will “slack off”. At a minimum I will try to make sure I get weekly standings & awards.
